The Bat Nebula

The bat nebula is a portion of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus. The star that created this cloud of ionized gas exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago. This portion of the nebula is located about 14,000 light years from Earth.
