On January 20, 2019 a total lunar eclipse was visible in North and South America, as well as Greenland, Iceland, and potions of the United Kingdom and Europe. The eclipse occurred during a supermoon. A supermoon happens when the full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth in its orbit. This image is a composite illustrating various stages of the eclipse.
