The western veil nebula, also known as the witch’s broom is a part of a supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus about 1400 light years away. The blue colors represent emissions from ionized oxygen and red is from hydrogen. The supernova that created the veil nebula occurred about 10,000 years ago.
